NYBBGB releases 2020 details

Details have now been announced for the 2020 courses and concerts of the National Youth and National Children's Brass Bands of Great Britain. 

The NYBB Easter Course will take place at Taunton School in Taunton, Somerset from Saturday 4th April to Saturday 11th April. The band will work under the baton of guest conductor Ray Farr with Tom Hutchinson, principal cornet of Cory Band featuring as Guest Soloist. The concert performances will take place on Friday 10th April, at the Winter Gardens Pavilion in Weston-super-Mare and Saturday 11th April at the Dora Stoutzker Concert Hall at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff.
 
The National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain is already looking ahead to the summer where its annual course will take place from Sunday 19th July and Friday 24th July at Repton School, Repton, Derby under the direction of Music Director Prof Nicholas Childs. The popular afternoon course concert will also take place at the school on Friday 24th July, Repton School, and will feature guest soloist, Brett Baker. 
 
Interim Administrator Alun F Williams explained, "We are determined to carry on the inspirational outlook of the National Youth and National Children's Bands. We are therefore delighted to be able to welcome Ray Farr, Tom Hutchinson and Brett Baker to leading roles this year and with a wonderful selection of music and a superb team of tutors and house staff ready to be announced soon, we are confident that we will provide talented youngsters from all parts of the UK with an outstanding musical experience."

Commenting on his appointment as guest conductor for the NYBB Easter 2020 course, Ray Farr said: "I am honoured to be invited to conduct the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and look forward to the Easter course. Having played in the band myself as a youngster under Dr. Denis Wright, I appreciate the value and inspiration that this wonderful institution brings. I have followed this fine organisation over the years and admired the commitment by its dedicated musical leaders and management. I am delighted to be working with the talented young musicians of the NYBBGB and aim to bring an exciting and inspiring programme of new music."
