Jasper Dommett features with BBC NOW

Jasper Dommett, of the Flowers band has secured an incredible opportunity to work with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Jasper, better known to his banding colleagues as a baritone player applied to be part of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales’ unique and exciting ‘Composition: Wales 2020’. Composers were invited to submit scores for a perfect concert opener or an encore for a BBC National Orchestra of Wales concert, such as St David’s Day or an international tour, suitable for broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
 
Each year these events form part of the Learning activity of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. The aim is to showcase works by composers in Wales worthy of wider exposure and is organised in partnership with Composers of Wales, Tŷ Cerdd, Vale of Glamorgan Festival and Welsh Music Guild.
 
On December 6th the BBC NOW announced that Jasper was one of eight chosen composers whose works will be performed at an initial workshop day in January. Further rehearsal will take place in early March before concert performances of all the works on the evening of Tuesday 4th March.
