Ivors Awards for Gregson and Higgins
Ivors Composer Awards (previously known as the British Composer Awards) have been awarded to Edward Gregson and Gavin Higgins at the presentation evening held in London’s British Museum. Neither are strangers to the brass band movement, having written high profile works for to critical and popular acclaim.
Edward Gregson’s award was in the category 'Amateur or Young Performers' for his work, ‘The Salamander and the Moonraker’ whilst Gavin Higgins’ trombone concerto ‘The Book of Miracles’ won in the 'Orchestra' category.
Speaking at the event, Crispin Hunt, Chair of The Ivors Academy, said: "The works recognised and the creators behind them adventure far into the evolving musical landscape. We're thrilled to award such a rich variety of talent. Our congratulations go out to all the nominees and winners."
