Oberösterreich wins the Austrian National title

Three bands competed on stage at the Haus der Musik in Innsbruck, performing the set work of ‘Titan's Progress’ by Hermann Pallhuber as well as an own choice test piece. Under the magnificent direction of Ian Porthouse, Brass Band Oberösterreich comfortably won both parts of the competition. The adjudicating panel of Robert Childs (Wales), Steve Sykes (England) and Glenn van Looy (Belgium/Switzerland) awarded the band a two point margin of victory for their performance of the set work and their arguably even better own choice performance of ‘Dear Cassandra’ by Ludovic Neurohr.

Second placed R.E.T. chose ‘Spiriti’ by Thomas Doss and third placed BB Fröschl Hall played ‘Concerto Nr. 10’ by Ludovic Neurohr as their own choice offerings. Congratulations to Brass Band Oberösterreich who in addition to wining the Austrian Championship will also now be invited by the EBBA to compete at the 2020 European Championships in Palanga, Lithuania.
