2019 Siddis Brass Entertainment Championship

The Siddis Brass Entertainment Championship, held in Stavanger’s impressive Konserthus this weekend, was won in fine style by Eikanger. Since its inception in 1983 the competition has gained a renowned reputation for innovation, with bands given one mark (out of 100) for musical content and quality, and one mark (out of 10) for entertainment of their short musical sets.

The Elite Division was as high quality as always, with international audiences able to follow the contest live-streamed through BrassPass.tv.  Themes were diverse including 50th Anniversary of Pride Celebrations, the refugee crisis in Syria and moon landing conspiracy theories, with the winners choosing to base their programme in Las Vegas where they enchanted the judges and audience with magical playing under the baton of Reid Gilje. Awarded an almost maximum score of 109 points Eikanger’s victory was resounding and wins them an invitation to compete at Brass in Concert Championship if they so wish.

Congratulations to Askoy Brass, Radoy Brass, Gjesdal Brass and IMI Brass who also celebrate winning their respective divisions.
