Peter Graham to be celebrated in Regent Hall

The music of Peter Graham will be celebrated this Friday (25 October) with a concert in Central London. Part of the Regent Hall Lunchtime concert series, Fulham Brass under the direction of John Ward, will present an hour-long recital of works by the popular Scottish composer. Fresh from a recent successful performance in London will be special guest soloist Chris Thomas, principal trombone of Cory Band.

The programme focuses around Peter Graham’s Salvation Army music and will feature the concert march ‘The Ambassadors’, ‘Renaissance’ (Graham’s sequel to ‘Shine as the Light’), the beautiful hymn arrangement ‘St. Teresa’ and ‘Seize the Day’, premiered in Regent Hall ten years ago. Chris Thomas will perform the demanding rhapsody ‘The Guardian’ and the salsa-inflected ‘Fiesta’.

Professor Edward Gregson, Peter’s former composition tutor, gave this resounding endorsement of his work: “Peter is one of most popular and sought-after composers writing for brass bands today. His music is highly accessible but well crafted, with an imaginative sense of colour in his orchestration, and an understanding of what makes brass players ‘tick’.”

The concert is free to attend and commences at 1pm.
