Cory - Titans of the 2019 National Championships

Congratulations to the mighty Cory who once again have proved themselves to be an unstoppable force. This latest victory earns then another historic grand slam, not to mention all the other prizes they have picked up along the way in 2019! The band’s performance of Hermann Pallhuber’s ‘Titan’s Progress’ had the audience absolutely spellbound and it clearly worked it’s magic on the judging panel of Dr. Robert Childs, Alan Morrison and Rob Wiffen, who also awarded Soprano Cornet player Steve Stewart, the best instrumentalist prize.

Black Dyke couldn’t better their bridesmaid, runner-up position from the Open, however the band was on top form under Professor Nicholas Childs and will be consoled by the fact that as the highest placed English band they have earned an invitation to the 2021 European Championships. Whitburn and Brighouse were placed third and fourth respectively, and along with Cory and Black Dyke now have automatic qualification to next year’s National Finals. Flowers and Leyland completed the top six positions, with both bands proving that when they’re on form they are still among the very best.

Full results can be found below and a full review and retrospective will be published in the next issue of BBW Magazine.
