British Open to be live-streamed across World

With agreement from the British Open, World of Brass and 4barsrest are to live-stream the forthcoming British Open Championships on 7 September, at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, making the event available to a worldwide audience.

World of Brass and 4barsrest brought the successful live-stream of the 2019 European Championships in April from Montreux, Switzerland, will now live-stream every 2019 British Open contest performance presented within a contest-long show anchored by live interviews, reactions, expert pundit opinions and commentary from 4barsrest, filmed in the Symphony Hall Foyer.

Said British Open Promoter, Martin Mortimer: “For the past few years, the ‘Open’ has sold out well before the event and we have received requests from the banding community in Britain and abroad – which has been unable to secure tickets or cannot attend because of travel or other limitations – asking if it would be possible to stream the contest. The live-stream of this year’s event will enable these supporters to enjoy the contest atmosphere and performances of Peter Graham’s new work Dynasty,by some of the World’s top bands, from their own homes.

Martin Mortimer continued: “We believe that the quality of reporting, recording and streaming that World of Brass and 4barsrest can deliver aligns with the ethos that the ‘Open’ and its sponsor, Besson, value. Streaming also provides the opportunity to reach a wider audience for the brass band movement that we are passionate about, whilst retaining its traditions and, at the same time, looking to the future.”
Priced at £9.99 for the entire British Open live-stream, armchair viewers can access the subscription point from 4 September at www.worldofbrass.tv and the live-stream will be available until 14 September – seven days after the actual Championships, meaning that even those who bought tickets to the event can revisit their most thrilling performance experiences on 7 September!
