NYBBGB ready for Summer Residency in Repton

Following on directly from the NCBB concert at the 400 Hall, The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain will also meet at Repton School from 27th July to 3rd August for its Summer Course. The band is extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Garry Cutt as guest conductor and the inspirational trombonist Carol Jarvis as this summer’s illustrious guest soloist.
 
As always some real gems have been selected for the young musicians to perform including Gregson’s‘Of Distant Memories’and‘Excerpts from Rameau Revisited’ by Peter Grahamas well as works of a lighter nature such as, ‘In Perfect Peace’, ‘Shine as the Light’and the popular ‘Mr Lear’s Carnival’. This course the superb tutorial team will include: Paul Young, Tracey Redfearn, Kate Moore, Ailsa Russell, Carol Jarvis, John Maines, Glyn Williams, Nick Etheridge and Andrea Price.The band will certainly have a busy week preparing for the end of course concerts, which will take place on 2ndAugust at Repton School and on 3rdAugust at the Victoria Hall, Stoke on Trent.
 
The traditional open morning will be held on Tuesday 30th July. Although the day is primarily aimed at Brass and Percussion players aged 8-18, all are welcome. You will enjoy a master class from the fantastic tutors, visit sectionals and have the chance to join the band for a rehearsal. Attendees also have the option to audition for the NCBBGB or NYBBGB on the day.
