Open Cooperation for McCann

The management team at the cooperation band are pleased to announce the appointment of Phillip McCann to take the cooperation band to British Open in September. Speaking after his appointment Phillip said,
“I am truly excited and grateful for the invitation to conduct the cooperation band at the British Open. Being Scottish, working with this great Scottish band will add an extra emotional dimension. A band with a wonderful history, a superb ensemble of musicians which includes amazing talented soloists”
The band was relegated from the British Open last year but bounced straight back up with a commanding performance at the Grand Shield. A spokesman for the band said, “many bands fall through the trapdoor at the British Open and it can be a few years before they are able to get back up, the Grand Shield Contest is never an easy event and the band were very happy to have qualified back to the open at its first attempt.”
The band hope Phillip’s early days spent with Harry Mortimer will stand him in good stead for the contest as Phillip stated, “On a personal note, when as a youthful teenager trying to play the Cornet, having Harry Mortimer as my mentor and teacher, being given the opportunity by the cooperation band to work on Peter Graham’s ‘Dynasty’truly excites, especially with what I expect the style of music to be in.My ‘simple’ quest is to make music and that together we will be the best we can.”
The band are looking forward to working with Phillip and are well aware of the commitment, drive and enthusiasm he will bring to rehearsals for this years British open.
