Fisher leaves Thoresby

Thoresby Colliery Band has announced the resignation of their resident conductor, Sam Fisher, with immediate effect. Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, Sam has taken the decision to step down as resident conductor with the band.

Sam joined the band at the start of this year and has played a significant part in the band’s preparations for the Area contest and the Grand Shield. Commenting on his departure Sam stated, “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Thoresby Colliery Band over the past few months. However, due to juggling so many other commitments alongside this role (including my ongoing commitment to Chapeltown Silver Band) I’m going to have to relinquish my position as MD. I wish the band the very best of luck for the future!”

The band would like to thank Sam for all his hard work and guidance over the last few months, and hope that they can work with him again in the future stating, “We wish Sam all the best for his future
endeavours.”

Applications are now being welcomed for the position of resident conductor. Please contact our band manager, George Newbold on 07875481283 or email george2997@hotmail.com for further information.
