Eagley For McKellen’s 80th

Famously educated at Bolton School and forever proud of his north west heritage, legendary actor Sir Ian McKellen is currently in the middle of a nine month sell out tour of UK theatres from January through to September, to celebrate his 80th birthday year. On Friday evening, May 24th, Sir Ian is guest of honour at a Gala Dinner organised by Bolton School on the eve of his actual birthday, and as part of the celebration will be entertained by an hour long bespoke set performed by Bolton’s Eagley Band and MD Chris Wormald.

Chris and the band were approached many months ago to perform at this exclusive event. Sir Ian plays Bolton Town Hall the following night, on his 80th birthday, and considers Bolton and Bolton School in particular as his acting home. He particularly likes brass and wind bands as his opening choice for BBC Radio Desert Island Discs highlighted many years ago with the Sousa march Stars And Stripes.
