2019 Australian National Championship Results

Sydney City Brass and Musical Director Jason Katsikaris were crowned as first time Australian National Champions in Brisbane last weekend. The band impressed adjudicator Steven Mead with a terrific performance of the set work, ‘Handel in the Band’ by Kenneth Downie, but were equally impressive in the other disciplines of the event. The band claimed a resounding 10 point margin of victory over runners-up WA Brass from Perth, with the final podium spot going to the eight time winner of the title, Brisbane Excelsior Brass. Commenting on the win a clearly delighted Jason Katsikaris said, "My players did everything I asked of them”

Congratulations also go to Waratah Brass Newcastle led by Stephen Grice, Wonthaggi Citizens' Band conducted by Craig Marinus and Far Northern Brass Band conducted by Nathan Wiltshire as they won their repective B to D Grade competitions. The Junior Brass B & C titles were claimed by Bright as Brass, conducted by Elena Katahanas and Brisbane State High School Brass Ensemble led by Dr Heather McWilliams.
