On the Buses again in 2019

'Brass on the Bus' is a fundraising event which first took place on Saturday the 2nd of April 2016; the brain child of Kaitlin Wild and Tom Steer (pictured). As part of their studies at music college these two NYBBGB alumni and ambassadors for the banding movement created a spectacular event that really captured the imagination of the pubic and in doing so have raised money for very worthwhile charitable causes.

The dynamic duo described the event, “We travelled around London with a brass band on a Routemaster bus, playing outside some of London's most iconic venues and raising money for Mind, the mental heath charity, and Music and the Deaf. This has grown into an annual event that we like to think is the highlight of the year for brass players and unsuspecting members of the public every Spring!”

Over the course of the last four years there have been fifteen performances to hundreds of people at some of London’s most iconic landmarks, raising thousands of pounds for Mind, Music & the Deaf and, more recently, the London Music Fund. This year’s event will take place on Sunday 5 May and everyone is encouraged to take part, either as a supportive audience member or even as part of the band. The schedule for the day is outlined below:

11:00 - Millenium Bridge
12:30 - Spitalfields E1, Bishops Square
14:00 - The Monument
15:30 - St. Paul's Cathedral
17:00 - Guildhall Yard, City Of London
