Workshop places available for Black Dyke Festival Spotlights
The world's most famous brass band returns to Leeds Town Hall for a Gala Concert, featuring the Black Dyke Band and its star soloists, plus special guests The Yorkshire Youth Band.
Black Dyke’s Brass Festival promises to be a highlight in the band’s calendar. The programme features music for everyone, including Walking with Heroes by Paul Lovatt-Cooper, Shine as the Light by Peter Graham and Black Dyke Band's new movie set Harry Potter, For Your Eyes Only, Pirates of the Caribbean. The concert also showcases The Yorkshire Youth Band, which performs Heroes of the North, a new work by Peter Graham.
The day begins with the very popular ‘Spotlight’ workshops with Richard Marshall for cornet players, Katrina Marzella, Zoe Hancock and Siobhan Bates for flugel, horn and baritone players, Dr Brett Baker for trombone players and Gavin Saynor and Dan Thomas for lower brass players. Each workshop starts with a warm up, and explores practice regimes and sight reading sessions with an opportunity to play an exciting ensemble work.
The workshops are open to all, simply pre-register your interest by emailing the relevant person below. The cost is £10 and is payable on the day.
