Foden’s and Love Music Trust announce Composers’ Competition

Foden's are pleased to announce that they have entered into a partnership with the 'Love Music Trust' (LMT) to launch an exciting new composers’ competition.

Speaking about the competition Mark Wilkinson commented, “Foden's are pleased to strengthen our existing partnership with the LMT by announcing the launch on an exciting composers competition. In June Foden's will partner the LMT in a 'Youth Festival' to be held at Clonter Opera, Congleton where four Youth Bands (who are partners with LMT) will provide an entertaining concert programme. The four shortlisted compositions will be performed at this event.”

The competition will be held in two categories, 18 Years and Under and Over 18's with the composers being asked to compose a concert piece with a maximum duration of 4 minutes that would be suitable for Youth Bands to perform. The submitted pieces will be judged by a panel of LMT and Foden's members and shortlisted to four compositions. As part of the prize Foden's will arrange for these four pieces to be published.

Speaking on behalf of the LMT John Barber commented, “The Love Music Trust supports an ensembles network that engages more than 1000 young people taking part in instrumental and vocal ensembles each week in Cheshire East. As part of that network we are proud to work with a range of fantastic youth brass bands including Lions Youth Band, Macclesfield Youth Brass Band, Poynton Youth Brass Band and  Foden's Youth Band. The competition is a great initiative that will provide a wonderful opportunity for composers to hear their pieces come to life, performed by these, some of the finest youth brass bands in the country.”

The closing date for entries is the 12th April and further details can be obtained via marklwilky@hotmail.com
