Lucerne Ensemble gets ready for Swiss tour

The Lucerne Brass Ensemble, a critically acclaimed septet is set to launch its 'New Horizons' project where the group will premiere works from leading composers on its upcoming Swiss tour.

The group has strong links to both the classical and brass banding worlds and works have been specially commissioned from Daniel Schnyder ('Berlin-Paris'), Ludovic Neurohr ('Ex nihilo'), Sandor Torok ('Waltz on Mars') and Jean-François Michel ('Brass Septet'), and Oliver Waespi, who has written 'Blue Starters', a trilogy of fanfares with a blues jazz feel.
This piece will also feature in the Gala Concert of the 2019 European Brass Band Championships in Montreux in May transcribed for brass band.

Commenting on the commission Oliver said: "The ensemble is already critically acclaimed and the tour will bring exciting new music from leading composers to a large and knowledgeable Swiss audience. It's an exciting development that such a leading ensemble bridges the classical and brass divide so successfully."
