Gloucester Youth Resurgence

The Gloucestershire Youth Brass Band (GYBB) was rekindled in the new year with a supportive partnership created between Gloucestershire Music and the Gloucestershire Brass Band Association (GBBA).
 
The reinvigorated organization spent a weekend under the expert direction of Ian Porthouse, guest conductors Piet Visser, Remi Vilys from the Netherlands and Lithuania respectively and a team of alumni tutors including: Emily Wilson, Ben Stratford, Andy McDade and Max Ireland.
 
The Gloucestershire Association also ran a successful Youth Development Workshop initiative. The free event included a conducting masterclass led by Ian, presentations given by Piet and father-son team Remi and Laurynas Vilys about their approaches to youth band development.
 
The weekend concluded with very well received concert performance from the youth band leaving the audience hopeful about the future of Gloucestershire music making.
