Russell Gray to lead Foden's in 2019

Following their recent Nationals victory Foden's have announced that the services of Russell Gray have been engaged, to lead the band at the North West Area, British Open and National Finals in 2019. Russell is no stranger to the band, in addition to the recent success at the helm, he is also a former Principal Cornet and was their Musical Director in 2002 to 2003.

Speaking about the appointment Mark Wilkinson commented “Russell has a fantastic track record with Foden's consisting of four victories and two runner up positions out of six contests entered. The band enjoyed a successful working relationship leading up to the Nationals and believes Russell will make a valuable addition to our high profile conducting team. Michael Fowles (who now enters his twelfth year as our Musical Director) will continue with our day to day direction and we are extremely pleased that Bramwell Tovey has agreed to continue in his role as President, as well as becoming our Honorary Artistic Advisor. The band are presently in discussions with Bramwell over a number of exciting and high profile projects.”

Speaking about the announcement Russell commented, “I’m delighted to be involved with this wonderful band again. We had a very enjoyable run into the London finals this year. I am looking forward to working with them over the next contesting season.”
