Bryn Terfel Album release features David Childs

The new Sir Bryn Terfel album, Dreams and Songs was released yesterday (19 October) on Deutsche Grammophon. Acclaimed worldwide for tackling the biggest opera roles, Sir Bryn’s new album – his first in five years – shows his lighter side with a collection of his most loved songs, recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios, London.

One of the tracks, The Shepherd Poet Of Passchendaele features the opera star with David Childs (euphonium), the Metro Voices and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra under Paul Bateman. The beautiful song was composed by Sir Karl Jenkins, with the sung text provided by Carol Barrett.

Commenting on the project David stated, “It is always an absolute thrill to work with truly World class musicians. I believe the song, composed by Sir Karl Jenkins is one of his most beautiful melodies, with a wonderful word setting provided by his wife Carol. Bryn Terfel sounds incredible on the track, and indeed the entire album - it was an honour to contribute the sound of the euphonium to the song.”
