Hebden Bridge March Contest 2018 Results

Congratulations to the Hammonds Band, who won their second shield of the contesting season by retaining their title at the Hebden Bridge Hymn and March Contest.

Directed by Morgan Griffiths, Hammonds started with Karl Jenkins’ wonderful arrangement of the Hymn ‘Abide with Me’ featuring soloists Phillip Varley on cornet and Zoe Wright on tenor horn and winning the prize for best hymn. They continued with George Allen’s famous contest march ‘Knight Templar’ which was scored 98 points by judge David Hamilton. With the highest score for a contest march the band won the overall prize by a margin of 3 points!

The Hammonds Band will be looking to make it a hat-trick of wins in 2018 at the Brighouse March contest on Sunday 1st July.
