National Archive transfers to BBE

Brass Bands England (BBE) announces that the National Brass Band Archive is to shut temporarily following a change of use to the Wigan premises that has for some years housed it, which in turn has triggered a clause in the Archive’s constitution, meaning that BBE is now the sole custodian and legal done of the extensive collection.

BBE is now looking at ways in which the Archive can be more easily accessed in the future by the brass band world and hopes to make a positive announcement in that regard, in the future.

Meanwhile, BBE expressed gratitude to Brian Halliwell, who has hosted the Archive at his business premises in Wigan, as well as the trustees and staff for their dedication in curating the valuable collection for many years.
