American premiere for Wilby  

Philip Wilby's 'Wondrous Cross' received its world premiere in Chicago on Saturday 28th April. The beautiful setting of the text of Isaac Watts was performed superbly by the Illinois Brass Band and the Metro Youth Singers. 

The work was originally written as a choir and organ or piano composition but was subsequently amended for Enfield Citadel Band in 2009. The premiere of the brass band and choir version was part of a special concert collaboration between the Metropolitan Music & Gospel Arts Department led by Dr. Jonathan Corry and the Illinois Brass Band conducted by Steven Squires.
