Peninsula Home Improvements Hits the High Notes with Beaumaris Sponsorship

Peninsula Home Improvements is sponsoring Seindorf Beaumaris Band’s Youth Band for their trip to the European Brass Band Championships (EBBC) in Utrecht, Netherlands on Sunday 6 May 2018.

Organised by the European Brass Band Association, the EBBC is the world’s most prestigious brass band competition, and Seindorf Beaumaris Youth Band not only delivered an outstanding performance to warrant a place at the competition but they are the only Youth Band from Wales to be competing so they will be representing the country in the championships.

Ken Grayson, CEO of Peninsula Home Improvements comments “This is a massive achievement for Seindorf Beaumaris Youth Band to get through to these championships, but with 49 band members plus their instruments it is a huge undertaking and cost for them to travel to the Netherlands so when I heard they needed support I was only too happy and willing for us to sponsor them.  The Band has always been an integral part of the community not only in Beaumaris but across Anglesey and this sits very comfortably with our ethos of supporting and investing in the society in which we work and live.  I hope they have all have a superb time in Utrecht and wish them every success in the competition.”

The Band’s instruments will travel by mini bus to the Netherlands on Thursday 3 May while the band members and many parents will fly out on Friday 4 May in readiness for the competition on the Sunday.

Gwyn Evans, Seindorf Beaumaris Band Music Director said, “We are absolutely delighted to have such a prestigious local firm supporting us and are extremely grateful to Ken and Peninsula Home Improvements for their sponsorship, which is worth £1700.  Being selected to compete in Europe for the first time is tremendous, but to be representing our town, our Island and Wales is something we are extremely proud of.   As well as playing in the competition the band members will be able to take part in forums, workshops and masterclasses which is an invaluable opportunity for them to perfect their music studies so it really will be a trip of a lifetime.”

Anglesonians and Beaumaris Band fans will be able to hear the Youth Band’s competition recital at a concert on Saturday 28 April at the Canolfan in Beaumaris.  The concert starts at 7pm and tickets are only £10 from the Canolfan on 01248 811200, with all proceeds going towards their trip.
