NYBBGB prepare for Easter Course

The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain Easter Course will take place from 31st March to 7th of April, with the first of two concert performances taking place at Cheltenham Town Hall on Friday 6th April, followed by Wells Cathedral on Saturday 7th April.

Works by three remarkable women composers, Dorothy Gates (U.S.A.), Kelly Marie Murphy (Canada) and Liz Lane (U.K.) will form the centre-piece of the Easter Course repertoire. The composers are well established writers for the medium, as well as for other musical styles and formats and Artistic Director, Bramwell Tovey has chosen three gems for performance at the band’s end of course concerts. The repertoire will also include works by Martin Ellerby and Rodney Newton.

As always a first class team of music tutors has been engaged to inspire the young musicians including Richard Marshall (cornet), Mark Wilkinson (cornet), Owen Farr (horns), Katrina Marzella (baritones and euphoniums), Christopher Jeans (trombones), Les Neish (tubas) and Mark Landon (percussion).  The band’s pastoral needs will be equally well catered for by the experienced and caring team of house staff including Danny Stenhouse, Alice Biggs, Beth Gallagher, Zoe Alexander, Sean Chandler, Carl Woodman and Ian Giles. The band also looks forward to hosting visitors and prospective new members at the very popular, free of charge, Open Day, which will be held at Taunton School on Tuesday 3rd April.

Anyone wishing to attend the open day should contact John Maines via johnmaines@btinternet.com Tickets for the end of course concerts can be purchased by contacting Administrator, Philip Biggs at philipbiggs@bandstand.demon.co.uk
