The NYSB Composer Contest 

The New York Staff Band is pleased to announce the very first NYSB Composer Contest. The competition is open to anyone, excluding current NYSB members, with the winner receiving 500 USD travel reimbursement and accommodation for a trip to hear the premier performance in New York City 2018. The winning piece will also be recorded on the NYSB's upcoming CD, due to be released in March 2018. 

Compositions should be for full brass band scoring and total length should not exceed 7.30 minutes. The piece should contain a Christian public domain song and should not have already been premiered, recorded, published or awaiting publication. 

The deadline for submission is 11.59PM on 1st November 2017, when all entries will be adjudicated by a panel from the USA Eastern Territorial Music Department. From these entries three finalists will be determined and their works will be performed in rehearsal by the NYSB, before the winner is chosen.
