Brian Grant bids fond farewell to Grimethorpe

Brian Grant, long time Associate Conductor of the famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band, bid a fond farewell to the band as he led them in a final concert performance on 8th October at the Buxton Opera House. Sadly owing to ill health Brian has had to step down from the role both he and the band have cultivated over the last ten years.

Grimethorpe wish to emphasise how very sorry the band is to see Brian leave. Band Manager, David Horn commented: "It is with considerable regret that we have to announce the resignation of Brian Grant as the resident Musical Director of the Grimethorpe Colliery Band. Brian has worked with the band for something like ten years and a fantastic relationship has built up over that time, which comes across to audiences week-in, week-out as one of the band movements most successful musical partnerships."

He continued, " We all hope that with plenty of rest and management of his condition, we may see Brian back in front of the band sometime in the future."
