Preparations in place for National Championships

Twenty Championship bands will soon be descending on Kensington to compete with performances of Howard Snell's 'Gallery' in a bid to impress judges Phillip McCann, Howard Snell and Luc Vertommen and be crowned National Champions.

In addition to the main event the outstandingly innovative and popular Tubular Brass ensemble will give the end-of-contest Gala Concert before the Awards Ceremony which attendees of the Finals can experience as part of their all-day ticket. Kapitol Promotions is also delighted to announce that the Band of the Prince of Wales Division will once again provide a heraldic fanfare as the 2017 Champion Band of Great Britain is announced at the end of the Awards Ceremony.

This year's contest will mark the last for Alan Hope in his position of Secretary of the Music Panel. The competition will continue to benefit from Alan's wealth of experience and knowledge in his new role as Honorary President of the National Championships. The Music Panel also welcomes its newest member, Samantha Harrison. Announcing the appointment, Philp Morris told BBW: "Samantha is an experienced cornet player and conductor who has worked with bands at all levels for many years, so she will be a tremendous asset."

The 2017 competition will start with the draw for the order of play at 8.30am. Doors open at 9.15am and the first band will take to the stage at 10.00am. Tickets can be purchased directly from the Royal Albert Hall Box Office, who can be contacted by visiting http://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets or by ringing 0207 589 8212.
