Wessex Tubas has appointed Carl Mercer as Northern England agent
Customers living in the north now have no need to travel to Wessex Tubas’s store in Andover, Hampshire, and are advised to contact Carl Mercer if they want to play, test or buy any Wessex instrument. Alternatively, they can browse and buy online at the new Wessex Tubas website -
Carl Mercer has only ever played tuba, both EEb and BBb. He began playing with The Salvation Army in Preston, and played with Section 1 and Championship bands - Longridge and Warburton - in his late teens and early 20s. More recently, he has played with Section 3 Eccleston Brass.
Carl Mercer started dealing in used instruments - mainly in tubas - two years ago and has since built a reputation as a supplier of quality instruments.
Said the MD of Wessex Tubas, Jonathan Hodgetts: “Carl Mercer will offer new Wessex instruments and will also be open to taking old instruments in part-exchange.”

Wessex Tubas is also pleased to reveal that it has developed a new four-valve baritone with open wrap to play more freely in the low register, as well as a new bass trombone designed by Chris Stearn of Scottish Opera, which is just about to go into production. Both instruments will be available early next year.
