Eagley thrilled with Ripon win

Eagley Band and its recently appointed MD, Chris Wormald, are thrilled to have won the 2017 Ripon Cathedral Entertainment Contest held on 3 June.

Band Chairman Deb Lyons enthused: “I cannot describe what this means to me personally and to the band. I have been in Eagley for 35 years and we have waited so many years for any kind of contest win. This is a brilliant feeling.”

Eagley not only won the contest overall, but also the Best Entertainment Trophy, achieving 47.5 marks out of 50 for entertainment, deportment and programming, in addition to winning the music aspect of the contest by a clear points margin.

Adjudicator, Mike Kilroy, commented: “Eagley was so tight from the very first note. Everything was so well balanced and had real impact. The band was sonorous, superbly in tune and the quality of balance was consistent throughout every piece. Overall, there was some really excellent playing and ensemble.”

The next major project for Eagley and MD Chris Wormald is a CD recording with Richard Scott and World of Sound.
