NABBC conducting final details announced

The Final of the 2017 National Association of Brass Band Conductors (NABBC) Conducting Competition will take place on the 10 June at the Fallibroome Academy in Macclesfield.

The first round of the competition will be by application of CV and video performance, from which 12 conductors will be selected to perform one of three pieces with Roberts Bakery Band at the Fallibroome Academy, six of which will be short-listed to perform with Fodens's Band in the Final - a concert that will be open to the public.

The adjudicators for the event will be Mark Heron, conducting tutor at the RNCM and Michael Fowles, Musical Director of the Foden's Band.

Applicants must be over 18 and be an active conductor of an ensemble. It should be noted that there is no stipulation or requirement that an applicants’ ensemble should be a brass band.

Members of the NABBC can enter this competition free-of-charge, and successful applicants must travel to the venue and provide their own scores for the first round at the Fallibroome Academy.

The prize will be the opportunity to rehearse and perform with four high-profile British brass bands.
